Our Story
Opening: Maison Mogusa began with a simple belief: that warmth, taken slowly, is a kind of care we rarely give ourselves.
The plant: At the heart of everything we make is mugwort — a humble, silvery herb that has grown across East Asia for thousands of years. Dried and refined into a soft wool, it has long been gently warmed in a practice known the world over by the name that comes from its Japanese word, mogusa. From that single word, the word "moxa" travelled across centuries and continents.
The tradition: For generations, this warming ritual marked a moment of pause — a way to slow down, to feel grounded, to return to oneself. It was never loud or hurried. It was patient, sensory, and quietly comforting.
Our intention: We created Maison Mogusa to carry that spirit into modern life, without the heavy smoke that once kept the ritual tied to special rooms and open windows. Our smokeless mugwort sticks let the tradition come home — to a quiet evening, a soft chair, a few minutes that are entirely yours.
The name: Maison for the care of a house that makes things slowly and well. Mogusa for the plant and the heritage at the centre of it all. A small bridge between two worlds — and an invitation to a warmer, slower moment in yours.
Maison Mogusa offers a wellness ritual rooted in tradition. Our products are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
